EL PASO: Food of the Gods

El Paso — Chico's Tacos has been an institution in the Sun City for decades. Its there for a nice lunch and its waiting for you when you come staggering in after a night of drinking and want an early morning meal. Chico's offers several food items on its menu including fries, grilled cheese sandwiches and hot dogs (served on hamburger buns with beans), but its calling card are its rolled tacos. A "single" includes 3 rolled tacos drowning in a tomato-based broth covered with shredded cheese. It cures whatever's botherin you whether its a cold or the start of a hangover. And the single is pretty cheap at less than $1.50. A new Chico's Tacos opened up on the East Side in the last year or so, but only go there if you really have a craving because its still too new. The tables aren't all scraped up from the trays and its just too damn bright. Visit one of the old Chico's Tacos and get the full experience.

I can second that! Yes! So good. I have to admit I doubted it at first, it's very greasy and like he said, drawning in sauce, but I've never eaten anything like it before. I tell you what, I'll never eat a taco bell or taco cabana taco again! Chico's won me over big time with just a single order, and I was completely sober! lol! It's a must visit in El Paso if you ask me,,,along with Los Colines....jk! ;)

If El Paso is a living being, then Chicos is undoubtedly its caloric furnace. At the Dyer Chicos, around noon, you'll see construction workers, linemen, cops, soldiers, sanitation workers, nurses--pretty much everybody that makes El Paso work--fueling up on tacos, burritos and hot dogs.

Ah, we must not forget the most wonderful Chicos hot dog. Two toasted hamburger buns stuffed with two or three franks sliced lengthwise and grilled to a pleasing red hue. A bit of mustard on the buns, then the whole insideds slathered with delicious chili bean sauce.

Hot Dog, thou art mine true love!
