EVERYWHERE: I Moved The Site

Hey there if you hit this site somehow (maybe it says unknowncity.com/weblog.php in your address bar up there) well this is the original version of the site, and we're now using the new version - at unknowncity.com - I'm trying to figure out how to redirect all these old pages to the new ones but in the meantime please go to the new site at that link and check out UC 2.0..

D.C.: Protest the war while listening to good music 9/24/05

Le Tigre, Coup, Ted Leo to Play D.C. Anti-War Protest

It's either the next step in the long march of political pop or a bittersweet coda to the summer festival season. Or maybe both. On September 24, the anti-war coalition Operation: Ceasefire will bring a corking lineup of acts to the grounds of the Washington Monument in D.C. as part of four days of protests organized by United for Peace and Justice. The aim, of course, is to pressure the Bush administration to end the occupation of Iraq. "The soul of America weeps for the dead youth of this illegal and immoral war," says ever-eloquent participant Wayne Kramer, guitarist for the MC5. "It is time to step up and be heard."

Unlike many such events (like those thrown by the valiant Bands Against Bush and Concerts for Kerry movements), the Operaction: Ceasefire lineup is both diverse and high-quality. More...

Austin: holy cow...the riverboat gamblers for nothing

This one is for UCgirl cause I know that she will be too busy dancing to post it herself. The Riverboat Gamblers are playing with The Sword and At All Cost tonight at Emo's for free outside. Got to love those cats at Emo's...it's been a month of free shows

Austin: hey the total foxes are playing somewhere beside carousel

It's another free show at Emo's. Based on the fact that Jerm Pollett and The Total Foxes are playing, it could be a pretty amusing night. Sadly I fear there will be no Family Feud though since they are opening...Line up is ruins of Broadway, Consider the Source, Secular End and Jerm Pollett and the Total Foxes...

AUSTIN: Come Git Yer Half-Price Vittles!

Today only, Texadelphia on the Drag is offering 1/2 price everything for anyone holding a UT student/staff/faculty ID card. In fact, while I was in line today, everyone was getting the deal, ID card or not. The turkey and guacamole salad with spicy ranch dressing was fresh and delicious. They'll even throw in a big bag of chips and salsa if you ask. No more free condoms, though...too bad...so sad.
